the internet is an ever expanding and exhilarating environment to work within. New advances are happening all the time and it is taking a increasingly important role in world events. The aim of this course is to make you a well rounded professional and provide you with the skills you need for a exciting and creative career in web development.
We have a strong teaching staff that provide you with support and information. Each of our lecturers have great experience in their chosen fields and each bring quality and support in their teaching environment.

This course provides the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to design, implement, configure and manipulate Web systems in a wide range of contexts. Students will experience a hands-on approach to studying all aspects of Web Technology. This qualification opens the door to an enormous range of employment opportunities as there is a shortage of skilled individuals in this sector. The types of job available for our successful students include Web Designer, Multimedia Consultant, Web Server Administrator and Internet Technician.

Year one study Breakdown

There is a strong strand of software development running through stage one in conjunction with an understanding of digital media development and delivery. Students will experience the use of command line scripts, applications, configuration and use of networks. Strong languages including XHTML and xml, style sheets and server side scripting mainly through the use of PHP but also with reference to Perl, Python and possibly ASP.

year two

Year two study Breakdown

Stage two focuses an individuals development on the more technical and professional aspects of Web Technology. Students investigate the development of Java code, web server technologies, web design, implementation and security, advanced digital media and quality of service issues. All students participate in an extensive project and are encouraged to adopt professional standards and approaches learnt during the programme.

Entry Requirements
GCSE Level: Normally English and Maths at Grade C or above. Together with one of the following: A minimum of 60 tariff points at A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification. Access to Higher Education: Considered on an individual basis. Applications from mature students without academic credentials will be considered on an individual basis. National and Advanced Diplomas in a relevant subject are accepted as a progression to a Foundation Degree and HND.
